We
are happy to invite you to the 1st ever Roma Camp in Shutka-Skopje
MK. It will take place in the last week of July in 2017.

It
will be full with music, singing, dancing, wonderful people and a lot of fun.

Why
Šutka? Šutka isn’t exactly a tourist destination, and many Macedonians would
never even entertain the thought of visiting this neighborhood.

Šutka,
with 40,000 inhabitants, is one of the largest Romani mahalas in Europe. Visiting
Šutka feels like entering another country.

The
architecture features very poor houses next to huge, colorful ones decorated
with gaudy lion statues and wagon wheels. People speak Romani. Life is lived
out on the streets, and it’s lived loudly.

Nothing
like “typical” Macedonia or anywhere in Eastern EU.  

That
is why Šutka has not a single hotel.

For the Seminar we have arranged lodging in the motel of
Ferus Mustafov in Skopje, not to far from Šutka.

It is small but has a nice big cool hall where we will hold
music and dance classes and have dinner.

As the hotel is small
we have also arranged private apartments in the heart of Šutka.

We offer dance, singing and music lessons. Instrumental lessons depend on
the participants. You can choose accordion, trumpet, saxophone / clarinet, tuba
and tapan. Esma Redzepova and Šani Rifati will teach singing lessons.
Esma will teach two afternoons.

Daily schedule

10:00 – 12:00             Dance and music lessons
               Lunch break
15:30 - 17:00              Singing and music lessons
18:00 - 20:00             Dance lessons
20:30 -                        Dinner, music, dancing

One
evening Ferus and his band will play for us

One
evening we are invited to attend a Roma wedding in Šutka; on this day there will be no
afternoon lessons.

Registration and Fees:

The
fee for the camp is 600,- €. It includes, seven overnights, breakfast and
dinner, dancing, singing and instrumental lessons, airport transfer. (For the
weeding you have to calculate an extra 50,- € as a contribution / gift for the
party)

Places are limited.

We
can only host up to 25 people. To save a place and help with the planning,
